Arcadian Aspects offers a wide range of garden services including consultation, design, renovation and installation as well as on-going garden maintenance. Barry's landscape philosophy, while informed by the today's restrictions -- garden size and financial -- is to remind people that there is still such a thing as 'the natural world' and that they are a part of it.
Searching through the Arcadian Aspects website is like reading Barry. His love for design, for gardens and his affection for his Leura community comes readily through.
"Good design always satisfies!" says Barry. While true, it is his bigger-than-life personality that connects Barry with his clients.

Set along the edge of the World Heritage wilderness, the magnificent park-like gardens designed by Danish-born Paul Sorenson are both formal and native in a single unusual Leura setting. Beauty and diversity are words that come to mind immediately, for time spent in Everglades is to walk among exotic and native trees, of modernist influences and of formal terraces.
In spring, the riotous colours of red tulips and yellow daffodils along the Upper Drive make visitors smile and in autumn, the Garden Theatre is our favourite -- its golden sandstone arch seems in perfect harmony with the muted colours of the escarpment view.
Built in 1936, the modern-style summer house of Henri Van de Velde is predominantly Art Deco in colour and detail. Set Described by Angela Le Sueur "the bathrooms with their bright tiles and luxurious fitting are pure 'Hollywood' -- extravagant in size, colour and fittings." (Everglades at Leura in the National Trust House Series).
Today, in the 21st century, the Gardens host a month-long Shakespearean festival in January. What a perfect setting for actors and audience alike.
While we consider Everglades House and Gardens as iconic Leura, it is an Blue Mountains' attraction and not to be missed.

In the back garden of Argyll House accommodation, the Canfield Studio is home to local artist, Jane Canfield. Open the last Sunday of the month (and upon request), the Japanese-style studio houses Jane's unique paintings of the Blue Mountains villages, city scenes and beautiful Melbourne beaches. The studio affords one of those rare opportunities to see the work and creative space of a young prize-winning artist. We've watched Jane expand her style and techniques in 2009, winning a number of exhibitions in Sydney and Melbourne. If you are on The Mall in Leura, we highly recommend a short ten-minute walk to Canfield Studio. See our
photo galleryfor a couple of examples of Jane's work.

Seeger By Design, a creative consultancy specialises in interior spaces and Director Sophie Seeger heads up the team. We're amazed at the energy and excitement Sophie, along with her team brings to her clients. The finished product is always remarkable.
The artistic clarity and the design skills this group brings to a job -- no matter the size -- are a bit of a mystery to us. What is clear is their practical attention down to the smallest detail albeit advice for paint colours, furnishing fabrics, or preparing your home for a sale.
Words do not do justice to the interior results this group produces, so a click to their website is a must.
On a final note, the Design Institute of Australia has invited Sophie and two other artist designers to participate in The Eco Collective, a group which "designs with integrity on sustainable fabrics". Quite a vote of confidence!
