New on the Leura Scene: a couple of months back, Ochre, Aboriginal Art & Gifts opened on 82 Railway Pde. This gallery houses a wonderful and varied collection of Aboriginal art mostly from Aboriginal-owned Art Centres of the Kimberley and Top End of Australia. Beautiful rugs and wonderfully crafted baskets are some of the most unusual work by Aboriginal artists that I’ve seen. Ochre is closed on Tuesdays. Check it out — the owner has a talent for display — you’ll definitely get the urge to splurge!
