Shakespeare Festival returns to Everglades on weekends 13 January through 28 January. This is the year of comedies: Measure for Measure and the Italian master, Goldoni's, Servant of Two Masters. Time to pull out your high school Lit book and read again Shakespeare's play.
Measure is a dark satire, an exploration of desire and power. If ever there was a perfect moment to see this dark comedy, it is now. We are daily buffetted by the revelations of male (mis)behaviour when power and wealth come into contact, when desire throws caution to the wind, and good sense flees out the door. And this isn't 'Fake News' as the U.S. White House would have you believe.
Everglades is the perfect setting for theatre and this, the 9th year of the Festival you won't want to miss. Bring a hamper or order one from the great Leura cafes. A blanket and a jumper, in case the weather turns chilly along with your enthusiasm for theatre and Sport for Jove will provide the laughs be they comedic or dark.
